Click here for larger image (Click to enlarge) Our organic chickens are reared for us at an exemplary organic farm in Lambourn. Brought in as day old chicks they are treated to the very highest standards with care and attention to detail. They spend their first few weeks in a brooder shed which acclimatises them to the outside world, even playing a CD to them of the sounds they will hear outside so that the first time they hear a tractor they won’t get stressed.

After three weeks in the brooder shed, resplendent in their new outdoor plumage it is time for a taste of the great outdoors. These areas are specially grown with plenty of shade and shelter and an abundance of natural food sources as well as ad-lib food and water in the movable houses. Dust baths are used to remove parasites and grit for a healthy digestion.

At twelve weeks the birds are mature and ready for slaughter. They are caught by hand in the early hours to minimise stress and transported the short journey to the onsite purpose- built slaughter house.

All of this goes a long way to producing what we think is some of the finest poultry around.
