Predominant crops are winter and spring milling wheat which are used in the making of bread and biscuits. We have also planted 70 acres of spring barley which should make good malting quality – you never know it could end up back at our pub, the Royal Oak!
Oats and beans are also grown for feeding livestock on the farm. If we get the much needed warmth this summer, the grass will begin to grow and we will be able to make silage for feeding the cattle during the winter months. This is an intensive job requiring a number of the team to get stuck in.
