When our egg man Vince Gallagher decided to hang up his hat, Helen took over his flock of organic laying hens. They are housed here at Eastrbrook where they live a great free range lifestyle.
Their rich menu of organic feed, good grazing and natural delicacies - any insects they can find - combined with a stress free life, produces fantastic eggs, full of flavour. Reared to Soil Association standards, the highest you can get.
Vince originally introduced a wide range of species including the superb hardy ‘Black Star’ and, more recently, the ‘Amber Star’, chosen for their perfect free range character. Numbers are now, sadly, depleted, but there are plans to increase the flocksize in the Spring. We hope this will mean we'll be able to once again give them away to those visiting Helen's pub (the Royal Oak).
