We started in 1987 with two British Saddleback gilts. We now have around 200 sows and 13 boars, which between them produce about 3000 piglets a year.
This is what our longest serving boar who resolutely carries out his duty with a smile on his face, says is so special about his life:
“We have:
• Great views
• Fresh air
• Nice neighbours
• Interesting diet, and
• Our offspring get to suckle from Mum until they are 2 months old, and then stay with their brothers or sisters,
munching on pastures of luscious clover and rooting for grubs
“NONE of those awful:
• farrowing crates; teeth cutting, tail docking or castration rituals that we hear some of our contemporaries suffer”
